Fire Replicas NPS Type 3

Post by JoeO » Sun Aug 02, 2020 12:50 am

I took one of the Fire Replicas Type 3’s apart. First this is the most detailed piece I have encountered from Fire Replicas, such a small truck compared to others and it indeed has over 400 pieces. Once I striped everything off I went with a white paint job to match the NPS units. I am slowly making progress, I can’t believe all the detailed parts and tons of photo edge parts that clean up nicely. I still have about 150 parts to go

Museum quality replica you are making there. It looks fantastic. Which is harder, removing 400 pieces or putting them back on?

Thanks Jeff,
I believe putting it back together is the hardest. Taking them about is easy since the glue is soft, way easier than Code 3 ever was. The reason I say putting them back to gather is when I glue stuff on I have seconds to make sure it's straight, also to not touch the glue itself is a bit of a pain since some of the parts are so small. It does give me an appreciation for the people that do this for a living, and I am sure they're much faster than me.

I do look at the assembly pictures on the Fire Replicas site to help me understand the trucks and parts. Like I said earlier this truck is amazing with all the different parts.

Got a few more parts on and finished the rear, still a few more things have to go on driver side, and even more on passenger side.

That looks amazing. Great job! I'd really love to see someone do a USFS and an LACoFD Type-3 from that model. Ventura Co would be great too.

I really wanted to snag the CalFire, but my job is pretty uncertain right now.

Wow this looks so great  I can imagine how difficult it is to put all the tiny pieces together!
