CHP SMPV cars

Post by Rich » Sun Jun 14, 2020 9:32 pm

These are White Rose caprices, from the old days. They were stripped, and the holes in the roof, and some antenna or spotlight holes were filled. They were painted with automotive base coat/clear coat paints. While the bodies were drying, the interiors were repainted the CHP tan they used at the time. These models had soft plastic interiors and some of the other parts. They don't take paint well. I used automotive primer and got a pretty good adhesion. Glue does not like to stick to the parts either. The blue version has dual spotlights. They were painted at the same time the body was. They are FRR spots. The rear deck lights are also FRR parts, painted gray, then a lens decal, then Tamiya clear paints. The mirror red light and square deck lights on the maroon car were done with Evergreen strip and decals. The blue car has a slightly modified FRR CHP push bumper, with siren speaker. The maroon has a scratch made "bumperette" made with Evergreen. I made the antennas. The side mirrors are from FRR as well. A fun project.
