Just finished this 1/25 scale 1991 Chevy Caprice. LAPD is probably my favourite department so had to go with another one. It was made with a snap tite kit from revell but some gluing was required as it wasn't a perfect fit for all components.

The LAPD used this 'Fender skirts' version in the early 1990s just prior to a change in design in 1993 whereby the skirted fender was dropped in favour of a more conventional design with open wheels. Many officers loved the chevy caprice car and still consider the 9C1 one of the best if not the best police package ever made.

Theres still lots of these kits available on ebay if anyone wants to build one themselves. i have included a picture of the box for reference.

Nice work. The Caprice was a great car for law enforcement. I'm kinda bummed I never got to drive one on patrol.

Thanks for sharing

Your scale model looks nice, but the 1992 Caprice in your photo is a movie car. It is not a real LAPD vehicle. They were having severe budget issues in the early 90s and to cut costs, the city did not buy new patrol cars for several years. They started getting new vehicles again in 1994. They were Caprices with the all-light Federal AeroDynic light bar and no spotlights. The following year, they got more Caprices with dual spotlights and the Code3 light bars started seeing use. I shot these photos in 1996.
