Receiving Hospital ambulance

I made this a few years ago, but never finished it. It started out as a 1:43 scale Hot Wheels custom hot rod. It had huge rear wheels and tires, and smaller versions up front. I took them off, took the body apart (its two pieces) and stripped it. I drilled out the holes for the roof lights, siren and rear loading light. I cut out the side windows as well. It got painted with automotive base coat/clear coat paint. The front reds are cut down FRR chrome spotlights from a Dodge Charger, as is the rear loading light. The siren is a modified part from the Plymouth Savoy Police Cars of the World issue. I made the antenna on the front fender. The side windows were made with clear plastic from a package. Those, and the rear windows were painted flat white from the back. The decals were added to the front side. Wheels and tires from the parts box. Its finished now, and in a new display case.

Awesome work. I wouldn't have thought of the white paint thing. Ad usual out of the box to make a great model.

Nice job! Not so easy doing rebuilds in 1/43 scale. Nice paint combination.

Neat looking '50's era ambulance. Outside of the color - it makes me think of the old CD vans that were in common use back them and often used in rural areas well into the '60's.

an impeccable finish for an unlikely color
