Los Angeles County FD Squad 45 - 1965 Dodge - 1/64th Greenlight/Code 3

Post by M1968Q » Sun Feb 21, 2021 7:25 pm

Another fresh completion, this time replicating a 1965 Dodge rescue squad for the Los Angeles County FD. The model is 1/64th scale and started life as a damaged Code 3 Collectibles Squad 51 model from Emergency!. I took the model apart, stripped it down, and repainted it using a custom mixed KME red paint from Tower Paints. I replaced the model's 1972 Dodge cab with a 1965 Dodge cab by Greenlight. The model was missing its lightbar, so I added one from the parts box. The railing around the top of the rescue body was damaged beyond repair, so I built another one out of styrene rod - not perfect, but it solved the problem. The decals are from InQuarters and replicate Squad 45, which had a squad in the 70s, though I'm not sure if they ever had one quite like it though the County itself did. All-in-all, a fun project!

Woah beautiful 🤩 Perfect match to the rear body.
It reminds me of some en route shots of Squad 51 were they apparently switched the squad during a run🤣

LOL - you're right on the switcheroo, but it doesn't hold a candle to the amount of times they used the Chevy Modulance ambulance stock footage instead of the Ford Modulance that was actually transporting the patient. The Chevy box ambulance was only actually in one episode, but they used that footage over and over until the last season when they got the Ford E series Modulance with the whitewall tires. :)
