Got a bit more done on the rig by cleaning up the windshield area with a Dremel and some small bits. With some patient cutting the windshield pops into place without glue. There was also a lot of scribing and cutting to open up the doors. Small brass hinges were added and then some thin strip stock was used to close up the openings so that the line of the doors was uniform all around.

More progress has been made in the last few days with the cab primed and finally painted. The cab interior is complete except for the rear window and door vent windows. Other minor details have been added as well. Getting closer to building up the fire body.

Here are a couple of update photos of the building in process. The body sides are in basic form. Yet to be done is to figure out how the top area was laid out. I have good photos of the rear but the top deck as somewhat of a mystery. I'm hoping to get some answers from people who remember the real rig.

The work adds up and continues sort of as the real one might. Doing it in sections allows the paint to be applied without the difficulties of hitting all of the recesses and hard to get places with lots of it.
