French Lick Seagrave Tower

Post by JoeO » Fri Jul 05, 2019 12:02 pm

Here is what French Lick looks like with correct stripe. They don't have a 95 foot tower however i got this from a guy in a trade, so I figured I could change it up. Decals InQuarters.

Nice work! The tower will look great next to the pumper you've already done.

Thanks for sharing

Joe, congrats on another beauty.

This was originally an FDNY tower? Do you scrape original decals off the basket like you do on the rest of the truck? And I wonder if same will work on other FR tower baskets, e.g. the Chicago 1985 E-1's.

Michael,
I was able to scape the ones off the Chicago E-ones, however not off FDNY I used a silver film decal to cover the FDNY. If you look real close at the third picture above you can just make out the outline of the squared oft silver decal. You have to be gentle with the baskets so you don't break them off. Here's the Chicago E-One that I renumbered

Nice job! That's exactly what I was wondering. Even when you point it out, I can't tell there is a silver decal there on the former FDNY. Very clean. Knowing me, I'd snap off the basket pretty fast trying to scrape the decals off the E-one. Looks like I might hunt for some silver decals. Thanks once again, Joe.

Well, I tried to research "silver film decal" with not so much success, both on Google and auction sites. (There are a lot of automotive products like that.) Which product is best for covering numbers on tower ladder baskets? Others might benefit from this as well, you never know. Thanks Joe!
