Kess 1/43 NYPD 68 Plymouth Fury,

Post by Mark B » Thu Jan 27, 2022 1:32 pm

Kess is bringing out an NYPD 68 Plymouth Fury. Been a few years since their last police car. No photos as of yet.

They have done some quality stuff in the past. Looking forward to some photos. They are also very receptive to suggestions for accuracy.

I remember the Ford Torino’s from a few years back. Your input in making them into a very accurate model was crucial. The last police car car they did was the San Carlos PD Biscayne. It was an outstanding model as well.

Hard to be certain, but it looks like they missed running the black on the rear fender, all the way to the back. Still a much better model than the old Dimension 4 Hot Pursuit version of a few years back.

Is the rear wheel well accurate? Other than that a very nice model. Geez Rich, those Dimension Four cars a more than a few years old. I think they made their debut around 1999. I still have LAPD version.

I think you are right Mark, around that time frame. Dimension 4 was the first diecast company I did work for. I cant remember what I did, but they paid me in diecast. I got several cases of the 1:24th scale Caprice taxi models. I may have provided photos and parts for mock ups, is my guess. Not a toy, but not a valued collectible, they were inexpensive and filled a gap. Their 68, with a file and some patience, could be made in to a respectable model. I still have files, not so much patience.

I'm pretty sure it isn't Mark. It looks like it has a fender skirt, which was an available option on the civilian 68 Furys, but wouldn't have been found on a police car.

Thanks Mike. Hopefully they fix the production model. They have a really good track record for their finished product.

This looks really good (except for the fender skirts), a good companion to the three Goldvarg NYPD green/white/black models. I have the other three Kess police cars. Couple years ago the base on my San Carlos Chevy model warped (it was in a case, not in direct sunlight) and I wrote the company three times by e-mail asking if I could obtain a replacement baseplate. Never heard a word back from them.
