Truck City Toys / DeHanes

Post by Jan » Wed May 15, 2019 6:18 pm

I have got a few Truck City Fire Toys . Years ago I found /read some information about the models on the internet . Unfortunately I can not retrieve that information . Is there anybody who knows more about the builders and their story behind the building of the models .
and , can someone tel me what kind of fire trucks the DeHanes # 301 / 306 and 323 are ?
what do the DeHanes -( Ward LaFrance Quad FDNY ) and the ( Ford ( !939 ) have as a stock number ?
and last ,are there numbers 330 /331/ 332 ?
lots of questions but hopefully someone has some answers

Jan,
Jan, been a while since I added info. I have a few DeHanes Models, purchased them, mostly from (https://themodelrailroadshop.com/firerescue/)
in Piscataway NJ. Some info I found :
#332 is (was) the WLF,Quad, FDNY.
The 1939 Ford Pumper was a limited edition, with serial #LTD.
#330 is a '47 L Mack Type 85 Pumper.

#323 is A/Fox Sedan Pumper, Pautauket Pa.

I could not find 301,306, 331. But I have approx20 Dehanes, some without serial #'s. I guess I was a bit "sloppy" back in the 70's - 80's logging them in. I do still have their shipping boxes, I could go back and dig them up?

Possibly contact them, they may be able to fill in the missing items. Hope this was somewhat helpful. Good luck. Joe.

316 is the FDNY1938 Ahrens Fox
319 is the Ocean Grove Ahrens Fox

I have been working on this for awhile. There are quite a few DeHanes I did not realize existed, and then I found some more in a box in my attic, and then some old advertising that provided some fill-in data. I'm working on compiling a list which I want to publish online with photos of all these handmade models to help collectors.

I have not started on Truck City yet, but these were made on chassis from other makers so people often get confused, or do not realize they are Truck City.

Thanks for TCT.

300 was the Mack B Cornwall
301 was the Mack B Lampeter
331 I'm trying to confirm that also - I have some on display that I have as blanks on my list so I'm looking for the boxes to confirm the model numbers. I have the boxes, just packed away. So far I have 300-334 but 302, 304-306, 308 and 331 and 332 left blank on my list until I can match models with boxes and serial numbers. I also have a couple of the Ford pumpers packed away, and I know of 3 versions of that so I'm not sure if those all had different serial numbers or not. The other challenge, of course is some boxes have no info on them ...

Another maker I'm trying to find out more on is Master Models which were 1/43 scale Ertl kit bashes - one was sold to me in a box marked Dehanes, but I have a couple of these, a rescue and a pumper. The rescue says Master Models on the underside. I was also unaware of the number of kit bashes done back then in limited numbers by some of the known makers - so I am trying to research these, but the problem is as I'm finding out even talking to some of the builders, is that they kept no records so it is all memory.

331

333 1954 Diamond T Pumper Unmarked X
334 1954 Ford F Pumper Unmarked

The "X" just means I have found both model and box in my collection. I think I have more Dehanes not listed here and I hope those will fill in the blanks. I'll update when I get them. We seem to have the same blanks - they could also not exist. He did produce flyers for models that he never made. I do also know a model that was made but I don't know the model number or exact specs - so the numbers may extend beyond 334 by a few. I have seen or have 3 additional Fords and 1 Seagrave not on here. It looks like you might have more Fords also, which might further complicated things. I want to match my spreadsheet with photos which should help.

K-Line primarily made trains / rolling stock in the 70s and 80s and during that time did do O gauge accessories like buildings, people, landscaping and a few trucks.
