Code 3 1/32 prototypes

Post by Dfdeng44 » Sun Nov 04, 2018 2:55 am

Hello all, if I remember right. Code 3 produced 1/32 prototypes for the casting in 1/64. Also there were some 1/32 prototypes for future 1/32 builds. Does anyone have pictures of any or the actual model prototypes in 1/32. Id like to finish them if I had them. Let them live on.

Heres a cpl from code3 day at PTH in Illinois. I know the Mack aerialscope was going to go ahead before they closed the doors.

Those would have been great, I was able to snag 2 1/64th prototypes many years ago

Ahhh such a shame that they went out of business, but obviously there was no market for them
Seeing the ALF tiller, reminds me of my plans of building a Philadelphia version myself. Just waited to long to get one of the Philly squirts :x

The 1:32 scale mock ups were what was referred to as "bucks". The 1:64 scale models were done in twice the size, as you see in the photos for copying. Once the 1:32 was approved, the buck went to the factory, and it was scaled. Most likely none of them survived the copy process, as they had to be taken apart for all the copying. Towards the middle of Code 3's life, rapid prototyping and 3D drawing took the place of making a 2X buck for scale work. The tower ladder was scheduled to be produced in 1:32 scale, but was scrapped due to cost.
