New 596 Model 1/64

Post by Sirentoys » Mon May 20, 2024 2:00 am

596 Models has released a couple new models.

First is the new casting release of the 2007-2014 Suburban This is a welcome release. Many of us have wanted this series. It is a nice casting. At first glance it seemed a little small. But next to a Code 3 it scales well. This is a plain black with roof rails. There have been a few photos of a NYNJ Port Authority version. But it is not out yet.

Next is another release of the Chevy Express van. This is for the NYC Sheriff. It goes well with the other NYPD van. It will get an upgrade to new lights to better match the 1:1 version. This gives me 4 version of this: NYPD, Chicago, CHP, NYC Sheriff. There are also a few orthers including a Chinese police and trade vans.

I got one of the Suburbans. I thought it was very well done. At first glance it looks small, but I think that is the wheels and tires. They make it sit low and look smaller. I think a tire/wheel swap will make all the difference. Sitting next to an F150 four door, it does like good.

The Suburban looks great! Are the grills and lights and so forth painted or do they come out for repainting of the body? Can you buy from 596 Models direct?

The head and tail lights are seperate parts. As is the grille. Here is the sneak peak of the PAPD version. Also look to the right and an ambulance is in the works too.

I bought mine off ebay. They are also on Aliexpress. And 20KM had them. Its worth keeping an eye out for the restock.

Not cheap enough to buy in bulk. But reasonable for the high detial modeler.

Good stuff! Too bad the ambulances are Chevys though. Most of that type ambulance were Ford E. Either way though, I'll be getting some. Thanks for the information!

I agree, I am hoping between this and the upcoming Greenlight Suburban, one will have a good part to graft onto a Ford van. Majorette had a decent Econoline. I unfortunately spent a few years in a Ford Type 2. Not a fun place to work.
