Re: 2021 Pierce Ascendant Tower

Been gathering a bit of steam on the project. Interior tub is nearly finished. Doors have been hinged and have window glass that slides into place from the bottom of the door. Latches for the doors will be taken from the Trumpeter ALF kit.

Re: 2021 Pierce Ascendant Tower

Lots of people have said that to me over the years but I don't see it as having patience so much as just working on a bit at a time. If it were a case of looking at the overall project all at one time it would be overwhelming. So it's easier to break up the work into smaller segments and go from the...

Re: 2021 Pierce Ascendant Tower

Got the door openings trimmed out and the doors cut from sheet brass. They will get some plastic strip and sheet stock added to the inside surfaces. Things are beginning to fit together now.

Re: 2021 Pierce Ascendant Tower

Been working on the interior. The cab door openings have been roughed out and the interior tub has been given a makeover with some "Pierce" looks.

Re: 2021 Pierce Ascendant Tower

Been making slow progress. The frame is painted and wheels and tires mounted. Wheels are Molotow chrome and the tires are Tamiya TS-82 rubber black. The cab is made of Evergreen plastic sheet stock and PVC pipe sections for the front corners.

Re: 2021 Pierce Ascendant Tower

Work has commenced on the build with the frame, tires and wheels. The wheelbase is 268 scale inches or about 10.5 inches in real size. WFD Tower build photo 2.jpg The larger portion of the frame is from the Trumpeter ALF kit with the rear portion of the frame and axles coming from an Ertl Internatio...

Re: 2021 Pierce Ascendant Tower

A bit out of the wheelhouse for modern equipment, yes. But I don't have any really modern stuff on the shelves. Having had some experience building the Jacksonville Pierce pumper it is really not that different other than all that stuff for getting up in the air!!😎

2021 Pierce Ascendant Tower

I've started a new build in the shops. Not much to show yet but I'll share the photos of it as I go along. This time I'm taking on quite a project in terms of the amount of detail that it will take. The Trumpeter ALF kit will donate some parts such as the frame, tires and wheels and some other nice ...

A bit off the track

I know this is a significant diversion from the generally accepted emergency vehicles category but it is one, nevertheless. This is a 1/25 scale scratch built 1944 Diamond T wrecker that was used to salvage damaged or otherwise inoperable trucks for the Red Ball Express that provided badly needed su...
