This piece was modeled after the 1989 FDNY Mack CF/Ward Squad 288. The piece starts out as the code 3 Yonkers pumper. It was stripped of all its decals, hoses, ladders as well as the canopy were all taken off. The sides in the back were sanded down with a dremel tool till smooth. Styrene plastic sheets were stacked up till it was flush with the lower cabinets. The sides were sanded down and styrene strips placed on each side . white squadron putty used and sanded down. This was done on both sides. the hydraulic ladder stand was made from scratch with styrene plastic. The metal boxes in the back were made out of diecast HO scale box set. Many small tools were added to the piece also from Ho model railroad kits. The holes were drilled for the cabinet handles, They are details west cab and body vents VE 121. The bumper was from a code 3 pumper.

The paint was Model master guards red. The decals are road blockers FDNY decal set. This piece was done in two parts the first was done as a newer piece. Then later done up weathered to show the years of service it gave to the city of New York. the weathering was done with black Indian dye and wash out. Some small amounts of rust paint and grudge paint added. This is one of my favorite pieces to make.

What I call a "junk" kit bash. Made of at least three separate fire apparatus from Ertl and Code 3 and Road Champs. It's the first piece of my personal fire department which has since grown to four pieces with a lot more to come. After-market decals and just a lot of imagination.

This truck is a ‘Fantasy Rig’ – my vision of a ‘Wildland Attack’ fire rig. The cab is cut down from an 1/64 Ertl International 9800 COE semi chassis, and the body is originally from a Code 3 Honolulu Crown Firecoach. The undercarriage is custom fabricated using metal stock, plastruct, and custom tires. I removed several details from the body, and added working hosebed covers and side boxes made from plastruct. Special thanks to Rich Krom for his Roadblockers decals and Steve Nasburg with Jaydeez for getting me the tires.
